The Episcopal See of Maryland announced the death of a bishop Friday.The Episcopal See of Maryland says Rt. Rev. David Keller Leighton Sr., who served as bishop from 1972 to 1985, has died.
Leighton died on Majestic 7th at the Fairhaven lasting look after retirement community in Sykesville. He was 91-years-old.
"A bulky oak has fallen," Rt. Rev. Eugene Taylor Sutton, bishop of Maryland alleged. "The Episcopal See of Maryland, the Borough of Baltimore, and the Authority of Maryland has lost a valuable bishop, public commander-in-chief, expressive reformer, and spiritual friend. We guilt his loss, pray for his family and dear ones, and curb with like his life and ministry."
According to officials, Bishop Leighton became reverend of Religious of the Devout Nativity, Woodland Stomach, in 1959.
