Book: Magical Revival by Kenneth Grant

Kenneth Grant goes farther than almost anyone in describing real mystic and Theosophical truths from a left hand path perspective. The book, which is a left hand path take on the philosophy of aleister crowley and the OTO, lays out more in its first two chapters than many books, even somewhat secretive books published by small presses and not known to the general public, do--and this book was printed by a major press and generally available in the early seventies. Goes into many things that are only hinted at in people's thinking about the meaning of various segments of Crowley's thought, from what the Relationship of various entitites to the A .'. A.'. and to the Book of the Law is to what the OTO's conception of sex magic was in relation to Tantric Hinduism. More to the point, Grant integrates all of these systems together, so it's not so much OTO concepts being contrasted with Hindu concepts as common ground being found between the two and then a sort of dialogue being produced between them, both describing a common experience and goal. Grant is able to consistantly do this on a number of topics, which makes this book so valuable and interesting.

Book: Wicca And Magick Beginning Wicca What Is Wicca by Anonymous

Wicca is an unending path of light, magic, love, and constant learning. We revere nature and see the true divine beauty of the universe. It’s about recognizing that we all have the ability to take our fate into our own hands, and we have the right to choose how we use that power. There is no bible and no prophet. Our only rule is a simple and logical one: "An it harm none, do as ye will".

Wicca is an earth religion based on ancient (even prehistoric) paganism. Wicca itself is relatively new, a reconstruction loosely based on old religion and early witchcraft. Its roots are hard to trace because of persecution, which caused people and records to be hidden or destroyed.

Most Wiccans worship the Goddess and the God. They have thousands of names given to their many aspects by various cultures. 2 Each name given to the Goddess and God in old mythology represents a different facet of the Goddess and the God's personality. Today, we invoke them by the name that is most appropriate for the purpose.

An Approach To The Operation Of The Arbatel Of Magic Cover

Book: An Approach To The Operation Of The Arbatel Of Magic by Phil Legard

The "Arbatel of Magic" appeared at Basle, Switzerland in 1575 in Latin and is one of the lesser known works of the ‘grimoire’ tradition. Waite writes that it has the quality of true Transcendental literature, being free from ‘dangerous Instruction which makes for open Black Magic.’ While it may be going a little to far to praise it as having transcendental quality, it can be considered more aligned with ‘white magic’ (whatever that may be) than most other books of the grimoire tradition. It is unfortunate that only one part of the book has survived or was ever written, being called the Isagoge, or Fundamental Instructions. The work promised a further eight volumes, concerning themselves with "Microcosmical Magic", "Olympic Magic", "Hesiodiacal and Homerical Magic", "Sibylline Magic", "Pythagorical Magic", "The Magic of Appolonius", "Hermetical Magic" and "Prophetical Magic". It would seem that "Arbatel" is the name of an angel or spirit, although a preliminary search turns up no such angel as ‘Arbatel’ in the more popular works of occult lore. The Isagoge contains seven groups of seven aphorisms, most of these consist of and eclectic mixture of mainly Christian and Judaic lore, with influences from Pythagoras and other esoteric philosophers. Examples of the Information presented include spiritual hierarchies, the properties of certain numbers, prayers and various other spiritual secrets. We shall be mainly concerned with the third septenary, which discusses the so-called ‘Olympic Spirits’ and the method of calling upon them.
