The Magic Of Armadel Cover

Book: The Magic Of Armadel by Solomonic Grimoires

The Grimoire of Armadel translated from the original French and Latin of a manuscript in the Biblotheque l'Arsenal in Paris. This is classed as a Christian Grimoire and contains many important seals and sigils of the various demons and planetary spirits. First translated by S.L. McGregor Mathers in the late 1890’s. The Grimoire of Armadel remained unpublished until 1980.

What follows is an unabridged Introduction taken directly from the version of the Grimoire by Frator Alastor:

“…….When Mathers made his Translation he notice that the title page was the last page of the Grimoire, so he moved to the front but keep the rest of the chapters in the same order. He also notice that this Grimoire began speaking about the magick circle like if it where something that the reader should already know. Now it is my believe that the whole Grimoire was written backward, this is to say that you should read the last page first (the title page) then the last chapter and so on. If you read it this way you will see that make a lot of sense. In Mathers version the First Chapter is a reference to the magick circle and the License to depart, it make no sense to begin a Grimoire that way since the license to depart is the last think that a magician read. Also if you fallow the Latin titles in Mathers version the text begin with the Sanhedrin, Jesus and go on to the creation of Adam and the demons and the angels etc. This order is completely the opposite of that one on the bible this is god first, then the angels, the demons, Adam, Jesus, the Crucifixion and the Sanhedrin. So neither to say I had inverted the orders of the chapters in Mathers version under the believing that this is the way that the magic was intended to be read.”

Loves Harmony Spell

Posted by Mystery at 1:36 AM
Loves Harmony Spell Cover
Spring heralds the awakening urges of the Earth and all her inhabitants. The desire to love and to be loved is an innate need of our interdependent universe. Since love is both so all-desired and all-encompassing, one wonders why love is so difficult to draw into so many of our lives. One simple word can lend an insight: "intent." Unlike our furry or leafy counterparts, humans generally have more on their minds than propagating their species. We want to bond. We want that love that is in balance and that works in harmony with us.

At this time of universal seeking-for-love, place a mirror in front of you, allowing a view of your entire face. Place a small lighted pink candle between you and your mirror. Gaze into the mirror, seeing yourself as the perfect creation of the divine. State these words:

"Mirror, mirror, my reflection be

the perfection of my body and soul,

the perfection of the goddess who created me.

I deserve the best

and will accept nothing less

than a love that is in harmony.

Magick And The Creative Process

Posted by Mystery at 9:42 AM
Magick And The Creative Process Cover
Each of us creates every moment of his or her entire life by sending out thoughts, feelings, emotions, prayers or declarations into the Matrix, being the energy weavings of the universe. We can send out new thougths that might change the energy patterns, or repeat old thoughts that will (re)create more of the old energy forms, or we may be influenced by the ideas and emotions of others and help so reinforce their energy patterns.

We are not only sending energy, at the same time we are receiving the energy of the thoughts and feelings of others. If their thoughts and feelings contain truth for us, we might incorporate that energy as 'our own', what means that your thoughts don't necessarily have to be your own thoughts!

To understand the creative process

we need to understand the basics of it:

THE POWER OF BELIEF.

The more you believe that what you think and feel is true, the more certainty you add to the energy you send out, and the bigger the change that it will take form in the physical world. Also the more you think the universe will grant it you, the greater the certainty that you will receive it. Be thankful beforehand, knowing that it is already existing and will appear in the physical world.

THE POWER OF UNITED SOULS.

The more persons think, feel or pray the same thing, the larger the amount of a certain energy capable of causing changes.

THE POWER OF REPETITION.

The more often you think or feel the same thing, the more belief and certainty about it you raise in your mind, so the more powerful your sent out energy becomes. Choose the same thing over and over again.

THE POWER OF CLARITY OF MIND.

Make sure that you know what to choose; that way you send out equal messages to the universe.

THE POWER OF SIMILARITY.

Like attracts like! You will attract that what you send out, so if your thoughts contain a lot of fear of disease for instance, you will attract disease as a magnet. If you send out thoughts of love and kindness, you will suddenly notice that unknown people smile at you and greet you.

THE POWER OF THE BASIC EMOTIONS LOVE AND FEAR.

At the base of every thought or emotion (or behind the conscious thought/emotion) lies one of these two emotions. If the basis is love, you will have ideas like: there is enough for everyone, I am good enough to ask this, the Universe will grant it me, I am thankful for life and its treasures... You will feel self-trust, self-love and self-confidence, inner peace and union with the All. A basic thought of love will add enormous power to your creative force.

If the basis is fear, you will think things like: there is never enough, I won't get it, I don't deserve it, I am not good enough, I have not done enough, I will lose it again, what if it does not work. You will experience fears and worries, doubts and insecurities, and you regard yourself as separate from the infinite Source. A basic thought of fear will severely diminish your power to create.

THE POWER OF TAKING RESPONSIBILITY.

If you take responsibility for your life than you can find the strength to make conscious changes in it. If everybody around you has done it, or fate, and you consider yourself a helpless victim, then how could you even believe that you could influence your own life in a positive way?

Of course you are not personally responsible for big events like wars, earthquakes or tornadoes; these occurrences are often called upon by our group-consciousness. Also many personal issues are often created by more persons than just you. But you surely are responsible for your reactions on and decisions towards all events. Do you try to find a positive solution or do you sit down effortless in self-pity? (Discouragement creates the same thing over and over).

THE POWER OF ATTENTION.

What you give attention to will be realized. This means that the love you feel for the things you like to realize will attract them to you. This also implies that suppression of 'bad' or 'ugly' parts of our personality only contributes to their existence. After all you have to put quite some energy in the denial of these characteristics by trying to think them away. It is much more beneficial to accept that we all have our 'good' and 'bad' qualities, and that we choose whether we want to live as a sinner or a saint.

Observe 'the horrible you' without judging it, decide what kind of person you want to be, and begin to think and act in a new way. Mind torturers like fears, worries, anger and grief can disappear if you simply let them be, accept them without putting energy in it. The feelings you dare to confront without holding on can pass through you like clouds.

THE POWER OF THOUGHT CONTROL.

If you notice yourself thinking something that you don't wish to think, simply consider how you want to think over that subject or person and. Send out the new thought. It is like copying out a page on a computer!

THE POWER OF NOT ACCEPTING NO.

Declare your truth completely, friendly, but determinedly. If people argue about it simply agree that you can understand their point of view, but... repeat your truth in a firm friendly way... until you get what you want. This is the famous technique of assertiveness trainings known as the 'broken gramophone record'. In fact the creative process is a big personally adapted mind-control program. Better to control your own mind then having it done by others!

THERE ARE THREE LEVELS IN CREATING:

* THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT.

Speak it out or write it down (not necessarily in the company of others, since they might diminish the belief in yourself by questioning your mental sanity) act as if it is already existing, smell it, taste it,

* VISUALIZE IT.

On the more levels you are creating, the greater the materializing force you set into motion. Usually we start the creating process at step 1, but it can also start at step 2 (remember the occasions where you heard yourself say something and realized later how much truth you spoke?) and the quickest way is to start at step 3: act in a new way and afterwards

* Think about it.

What you think of, you create. And what you create you experience, and your experience is the basis for what you will think of next. Enjoy creating simply for the joy of creating and remain free from expectations. How others react on your creations is their responsibility, not yours. But if you try to create for the highest good of all, you can hardly go wrong. Dare to change your mind if necessary. Don't ask for guarantees.

If life is created over and over again, changing from minute to minute, how can we guarantee anything except that life will be life? If you don't like a certain outcome, know that you are a magician and change it!

Casting And Closing A Circle

Posted by Mystery at 7:47 PM
Casting And Closing A Circle Cover
The Purposes of a Circle
A sacred circle has several purposes, the most significant of which is to define an area where formal ritual work can be performed. A circle is a place in which the rules and conditions are different to that of the everyday world. A circle is not a barrier, but a doorway to another world. To contain any magickal energy raised and to prevent its dissipation until it has been used up is another purpose of the circle. The sacred circle does not need to be physically represented (drawn or marked on the ground), it just needs to be visualised. The circle is a spiritual entity.

How to Cast a Circle
A circle can be cast for all magickal acts. The size of a circle varies vastly – it should be able to comfortably fit those using it. Certain actions must be performed and certain words said in a loud, clear voice. An altar should be placed in the circle – in a north, centre or east position.

1. Cleanse yourself and you chosen area. You should have a bath and clear the area completely. Set up an altar with the following items: a flat pentagram symbol, two black candles, an athame or sword, a small bell, a bowl of salt, a bowl of water, a chalice and a saucer.

2. Light your altar candles. Holding blade, walk around your circle, and say: “With this sacred blade I cast the circle of my craft. May it be a doorway to a sacred circle beyond time and space. Let it be a meeting place for all good, and may it deter all wickedness.”

3. Stand in front of your altar, pick up your bell, and say: “In the names of the Goddess and the Horned God, I cast this my working circle.” Afterwards, ring your bell.

4. Return to the North and raise your blade high before you. Call out: “Bear witness, Spirits of the North, guardians of Wicca.” Go to the East, South and West and repeat at each.

5. At the altar, put your bowl of salt on the pentagram and lower your blade into the bowl of salt, saying: “I exorcise thee, so that it may be purified and may aid me well.”

6. Put your bowl of water on the pentagram and take a pinch of salt and sprinkle it into the water. Lower the blade of your athame into the water, saying: “I cleanse and consecrate thee, Water of Life, and ask you to bless this circle. In the names of the Goddess and the Horned God, so mote it be!”

7. Pick up and hold the consecrated water and walk slowly around the circle again (still clockwise), and sprinkle a few drops along the line of the Circle, saying: “I consecrate this sacred circle by the powers of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. May the Goddess bestow her love herein, and the Horned God his honour.” Pick up your chalice, pour a small amount in the saucer for the Goddess and the Horned God, then take a sip yourself. After, place the chalice back on your pentagram.

This completes the casting of your circle. Specific activity can now be performed here, such as a Sabbat ritual, making a charm, or healing. It is absolutely crucial you do not leave the circle until your activity is complete, and without properly closing it. When your chosen focus is complete, move on to closing the circle.

How to Close a Circle

Go to the North, hold up your blade, and say, “Guardians and spirits of the North wind, my ritual is now complete. I bid you hail and farewell. Hail and farewell.” Repeat counterclockwise from North to West, to South, to East, and back to the North again.

Extinguish your altar candles and bow your head at the altar, saying, “I declare this scared circle closed. So mote it be.” Ring a bell to complete the closing and step out.

": Moon, "TYPE" from "MAGICKAL FORM", whole "Obtained from the evergreen tree, this fragrant white compound holds many spiritual properties. In voodoo rituals, it is burned for love and attraction. It is one of the most sacred substances to offer to the moon goddess on a new moon to thank her for her abundant blessings.

Camphor is also used in cleansing and purification rituals. Use it to get rid of unwanted passions or unwanted admirers.

It is one of the seven substances most sacred to Buddha and meditation upon it, or in its presence, will bring enlightenment.

NOTE: Only essential oil of white camphor is safe for use.

House Blessing Notes

Posted by Mystery at 4:30 AM
House Blessing Notes Cover
In the spirit of house blessings, and because I'm basically a kitchen witch at heart, and like little projects over serious ritual, I offer some selections gleaned from Cunningham's The Magical Household. I'm typing these without permission but with the hope that they'll inspire you to pick up the Cunningham book, because it's wonderful stuph...

For the doorway:

Suspend over the door a fresh sprig of dill, tied with a blue cord (or red, if you prefer), to prevent those who mean you harm from entering.

Cross two needles, and stick into or tie onto a corner of your doormat, to prevent evil from entering.

Grind Dragon's Blood herb into a powder and sprinkle it on door and window sills, to protect your house from harm.

"Witch Bottles"

1- Powder some more Dragon's Blood herb with a small quantity of sugar and salt, and place in a small corked or screw-lidded bottle. Shake and seal with red wax, then place it where it won't be found (or at least not easily seen). This will ensure harmony and peace within the house.

2- Place three new needles, three new pins, and three new nails in a glass jar. Fill with salt and shake vigorously nine times. Seal with white wax and place in kitchen cupboard where it will not be seen. This protects your food from contamination.

3- Gather rosemary, along with several needles and pins, into a small glass jar with a tight-fitting lid or cork. When full, pour in red wine and shake. Seal with black or red wax, and place in an inconspicuous place in the apartment. If you own your own house, bury this at the furthestmost corner of your property. The book also adds this:

As you're filling the jar, say these words...

"Pins, needles, rosemary, wine,
In this witch's bottle of mine;
Guard against harm and enmity;
This is my will; so Mote it Be!"

Personally, I'm not hip on anything but, "Hey, Gods? It's me again", but I know, I'm CONSIDERABLY less formal than most!

An Anti-Theft Sachet

Mix caraway, rosemary, juniper berries, and elder leaves or mistletoe, and place into white square of cloth. Tie with white yarn and hang prominently. I'd assume either at the place you think thieves are most likely to enter--this being an anti-theft sachet--or at every entrance and doorway. This will require more cloth and more herbs, but most of the above are fairly inexpensive.

Finally, on Moving Day itself:

Bring two things into the house first: a small amount of salt, half to be scattered upon crossing the threshold, and a small loaf of bread. Break the bread into as many pieces as you have people moving in, with one extra piece for the gods' portion. Sprinkle a dash of salt on each piece; share, when you have a moment. (I'd say have water on hand as well--at the very least, to clear the salt!) Next, bring in an apple and do the same thing--Cunningham recommends a fruit and cheese basket--I'd stick with just the apple and maybe a few slices of cheddar, or something. Lastly, bring in a sturdy chair and place it either near the apple and bread bits, or facing the door. This ensures that you will never know poverty, for there is bread and salt, hunger, for there is fruit (and cheese), and instability (for there's your stable chair guarding the door. After that, heave and lift until you're moved in!

A Note: I think ritual is very important, and I do admire rituals I've picked up here and those I've found on my own. In the long run, though, I know myself well enough to think that if I have to wait for a certain day and have a certain robe on, or need a special tool or altar lay-out, it'll never happen. But I can put my hands on needles, pins, wine and spices at virtually any time, and can easily make up witch's bottles for the shelves and cupboards, sachets for the windows, and incenses for household protection and cleansing. These simple items can have just as much power as just about any major ritual, and are sometimes easier to "whip up" for the busy pagan...

Tarot Love Spell

Posted by Mystery at 9:02 PM Labels: black magic, casting spells, magic, magic ebook, magic ebooks, magic literature, magic spells, magick spells, money magic, wicca magick, witchcraft
Tarot Love Spell Cover When you do a spell to attract someone, the spell actually begins to change
you, and not them. In the craft, magick changes our internal world. When that
world changes the external world changes, never visa versa. So the spell must
include your needs and desire to change for the highest good. One last thing,
be very careful, in magick, for what you ask for, the Goddess may give it!!
Include the following cards for your love spell: Meditate on each card. We use
the Major Arcana because of it spiritualness in nature. True Love is
spiritual, not physical. The physical body dies, the spirit never dies.
1. Her significator, his significator.
2. The Lovers = Highest choices.
3. Hermit = Love is Spiritual in nature.
4. Magician = The magick of your life and his.
5. Universe = The Universe blesses your life.
6. Chariot = Controlling the magick within first.
7. Death = Lessons learned, willing to change.
8. Wheel of Fortune = Allow the Lord and Lady to work things out in their time.
Locate Anoiting oil, a 7 day pink candle (to find one, go to your local 99 cent
store or metaphysical store), a piece of string, and a rose.
Rose incense is also ok to burn during the magick.
Preparation for Magick
Set up the following on your altar:
- Light the incense.
- Place your two significator cards together touching each other, side by side.
- Place the candle on top your two cards
- Surround the candle with the Major arcana card forming a circle. As you
place each card, meditate on each card and its given meaning.
- Place the rose somewhere in the layout.
- With the anoiting oil, bless the candle, and infuse it with the following
words!

*** I do anoint you oh candle of love. Firstly, I send any negative and
disharmonious energies back into the ethers. Secondly, I send Healing, Love,
and Light to my relationship with [his name], in the name of the Lord and Lady.
Thirdly, I charge thee ol candle of Love to rekindle the fires between me and
[his Name/her Name]. If by the will of the Lord and Lady, come to me my love.
So mote it be!

- Now tie the string around the candle and repeat 3 times with love in your
heart :
*** I do re-bind the strings of our love. So mote it be!
- Spend a few moments, meditating about the magick done!
- Allow the candle to burn completely out!
- Do not move your layout, until the candle's flame is finished, 7 days later.
- Every time you see your layout, send to the flames of the candle, Perfect
love and perfect trust!
- Go on with your life and allow the Lord and Lady to work their magick in your
life!

The Golden Bough A Study Of Magic And Religion

The Golden Bough A Study Of Magic And Religion Cover

Book: The Golden Bough A Study Of Magic And Religion by Sir James George Frazer

The Golden Bough: A Study in Magic and Religion is a wide-ranging, Comparative Study of mythology and religion, written by Scottish anthropologist Sir James George Frazer (1854–1941). It first was published in two volumes in 1890; the third edition, published 1906–15, comprised twelve volumes. It was aimed at a broad literate audience raised on tales as told in such publications as Thomas Bulfinch's The Age of Fable, or Stories of Gods and Heroes (1855). It offered a modernist approach to discussing religion, treating it dispassionately as a cultural phenomenon rather than from a theological perspective. The impact of The Golden Bough on contemporary European literature was substantial.

The book scandalized the British public upon its first publication, because it included the Christian story of Jesus in its comparative study, thus inviting an agnostic reading of the Lamb of God as a relic of a pagan religion. Frazer removed his analysis of the Crucifixion to a speculative appendix for the third edition, and it was entirely missing from the single-volume abridged edition.

Its influence on the emerging discipline of anthropology was pervasive and undeniable. For example, Bronislaw Malinowski, stricken with tuberculosis shortly after receiving his doctorate in physics and mathematics, read Frazer's work in the original English to distract himself from his illness. "No sooner had I read this great work than I became immersed in it and enslaved by it. I realized then that anthropology, as presented by Sir James Frazer, is a great science, worthy of as much devotion as any of her elder and more exact studies and I became bound to the service of Frazerian anthropology."

Despite whatever controversy the work may have generated, and its critical reception amongst other scholars, The Golden Bough had a tremendous effect on the literature of the period. Robert Graves adapted Frazer's concept of the dying king who is sacrificed for the good of the kingdom to the romantic idea of the poet's necessary suffering for the sake of his Muse-Goddess in his Frazer-esque book on poetry, rituals, and myths, The White Goddess, which was published in 1948. William Butler Yeats makes reference to it in his poem, "Sailing to Byzantium." H. P. Lovecraft mentions the book in his short story "The Call of Cthulhu." T. S. Eliot acknowledged indebtedness to Frazer in his first note to his poem The Waste Land. William Carlos Williams references it as well in Book Two, part two, of his extended poem in five books, Paterson. James Joyce, Ernest Hemingway, D. H. Lawrence, Aleister Crowley, Ezra Pound, Mary Renault, Joseph Campbell, Naomi Mitchison (in her The Corn King and the Spring Queen), and Camille Paglia are but a few authors deeply influenced by The Golden Bough. Its literary impact has given it continued life, even as its direct influence in anthropology has waned.

Purifying Atmosphere In A Tainted Room Cover
We had this problem when a housemate moved out--we didn't dislike her exactly, but our styles were very different, and for six months we had a room in our house that didn't belong to us.

Removing all mundane traces of the person is important. Take down their clippings, throw out the phone book with their notes scribbled in it, sweep the place thoroughly. Wipe down desktops and telephones and other grubby bits of furniture, maybe with a clean scent like pine in the wash water.

Sprinkling with salt water is a good idea--as far as I'm concerned any kind of salt will work. Incense or perfume can also work, but are more likely to annoy co-workers. For me, even better than sprinkling is walking the boundaries of the space and dabbing water by hand onto walls, doors, windows, etc.

Then put up something of your own to claim the place. It doesn't have to be explicitly pagan--photographs, perhaps a calendar with nature scenes, a cartoon clipping, whatever will help mark it as yours. Perhaps ask for a blessing on the room, if you are comfortable doing so, or make a dedication of it to your working purposes.
