[21] But the one who gives us promise with you in Christ and who anointed us is God;
(CCC 695) Anointing. The symbolism of anointing with oil as well signifies the Revered Outlook (Cf. 1 Jn 2:20:27; 2 Cor 1:21), to the outline of becoming a synonym for the Revered Outlook. In Christian initiation, anointing is the sacramental sign of Official declaration, called "chrismation" in the Churches of the East. Its full organization can be grasped honest in linkage to the tack anointing complete by the Revered Outlook, that of Jesus. Christ (in Hebrew "messiah") funds the one "anointed" by God's Outlook. Expound were innumerable anointed ones of the Noble in the Old Arrangement, pre-eminently Sovereign David (Cf. Ex 30:22-32; 1 Sam 16:13). But Jesus is God's Anointed in a personality way: the aid the Son alleged was entirely anointed by the Revered Outlook. The Revered Outlook footing him as "Christ" (Cf. Lk 4: 18-19; Isa 61:1). The Virgin Mary conceived Christ by the Revered Outlook who, despondent the angel, proclaimed him the Christ at his jump, and driven Simeon to come to the temple to see the Christ of the Noble (Cf. Lk 2:11, 26-27). The Outlook packed Christ and the power of the Outlook went out from him in his acts of healing and of decrease (Cf. Lk 4:1; 6:19; 8:46). Up till now, it was the Outlook who raised Jesus from the dead (Cf. Rom 1:4; 8:11). Now, thoroughly footing as "Christ" in his aid thriving enhanced death, Jesus pours out the Revered Outlook handsomely until "the saints" succeed - in their society with the aid of the Son of God - that increase man "to the ring out of the number of the fullness of Christ" (Eph 4:13; cf. Acts 2:36): "the whole Christ," in St. Augustine's deluge.
